Other Resources

The following are some resources that may be helpful.

Books:

  • Without Conscience: The disturbing world of the psychopaths among us, by Robert D. Hare
    • Dry, but based on clinical research
  • Books by H. G. Tudor
    • At least one of these discusses privacy invasion, and another, gaslighting

Movies:

  • Gaslight (w/ Ingrid Bergman)
    • Origin of the term gaslighting as it's used to describe those activities
  • The talented Mr. Ripley
    • When I watched it, I had no idea it was about a psychopath.  However after I concluded that the pw I know is a psychopath, in retrospect, I thought one of actors had to be portraying one.  I looked it up and sure enough, that's the case.  If you have a pw of the same gender in your life, the movie will resonate.

Websites:

  • The Upper Hand: the-upper-hand.com
    • Nice resource.  The "Mask Of Sanity" is a good read, but I think it should be titled "The Mask of Normalcy."  "Mask Of Sanity" implies that people with APD are insane.  They are not.  They are in full possession of their senses and are well aware of what they are doing.  They are well aware of what is wrong, right, legal, ethical, moral and well aware that they are violating those principles.  They simply don't care.
